DIRECTIONS

From Keswick follow signs for Borrowdale (B5289). After approximately 6 miles, take the first left turn after the sign for 'Rosthwaite' entering the village.

SURROUNDING AREA

Hazel Bank is ideally located if you would like to leave your car at the hotel.

A footpath from the bottom of the garden leads to the nearby village of Stonethwaite and further on to Grasmere.

In the opposite direction the footpath leads to Watendlath. From Watendlath you can follow the path to Dock Tarn or to Surprise View and Ashness Bridge. After a short walk from here towards Derwent Water you can cross the lake by boat.

Crossing the hump back bridge at the bottom of the garden of Hazel Bank you can walk through the tiny village of Rosthwaite to follow the footpath around Castle Crag and on to Honister or Seatoller or you can continue the footpath to Grange and walk along Derwent Water to walk Catbells or into the Newlands Valley. From the bottom of Catbells you can cross Derwent Water by boat. A bus stop is 200 yards away from the hotel. The bus brings you to Keswick in one direction or further into the Borrowdale Valley for walking the big mountains in the other direction.
